ICAR-CIRCOT demonstrated sustainable technologies to textile industries of MIDC Tarapur, Maharashtra

ICAR-CIRCOT demonstrated sustainable technologies like salt free dyeing technology, technologies to achieve Zero liquid discharge (ZLD) and antimicrobial finishing to the textile weaving and processing industries of MIDC Tarapur, Tarapur Industrial Area, Dist. Palghar, Maharashtra in collaboration with Tarapur Industrial Manufacturing Association (TIMA) on 27th December 2018. M/s. Gini Silk Mills Limited & M/s.D’Décor Home Fabrics Pvt. Ltd facilitated this programme. This demonstration had drawn good response with participation from 16 industries.  Dr. A.S.M. Raja, Principal scientist, Dr. P.K. Mandhyan, Senior Scientist and Dr. A.Arputharaj, Scientist presented the various technologies  developed by the institute in detail and clarified the queries raised by the stakeholders.

ICAR-CIRCOT organized One day Internal Review Workshop for the projects undertaken under CRP on Natural Fibres

Consortia Research Project (CRP) on Natural Fibres is being implemented by the institute as Lead centre. Under this project one day internal review workshop was organized at ICAR- CIRCOT on 13 December, 2018.  Principle Investigators of different projects from lead as well as cooperating centres namely ICAR-NIRJAFT, Kolkatta, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Tamilnadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore participated in the workshop. All scientists of the institute were also present during the workshop. Dr. P.G. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT and Nodal officer for CRP-Natural Fibre project chaired the technical session and reviewed the progress of the projects. During the meeting, he emphasized that CRP projects should be carried out in fast track mode to achieve the tangible results within the given time. He also pointed out that the projects are directly monitored by the ICAR and the lead centre has to periodically appraise the council about the progress and fund utilization. Totally 13 projects presentation were made during the workshop by the PIs of the projects. During concluding session, Dr. P.G. Patil asked the PIs of the projects to aim for the development of innovative products/ processes which can lead to entrepreneurial development, solving the problem of the masses and beneficial to the society.  The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks to the chair and all participants by Dr. A.S.M. Raja, Principal Scientist & Lead centre project coordinator of CRP- NF.
