Nanotechnology Training Organized at ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai
ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai organized a five day training programme on “Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology” during September 23 to 27, 2019. Fourteenth in the series, this self-supporting skill development programme was attended by 21 trainees from various organizations including ICAR, SAUs, Colleges, and also, Business-Incubatee & Entrepreneur. The objectives of this training programme were to impart the basics of nanotechnology, synthesis of nanomaterials by physical, chemical & biological methods, characterization of nanomaterials, and their applications in textiles, composites, IPM, food & food packaging, fertilizers and effluent management to the trainees. Also, the environmental impact and LCA analysis of nano-based products were also dealt with.
Dr. Sujata Saxena, Director In-charge, during her remarks in the valedictory function, congratulated the trainees from various organizations with diverse backgrounds for successful completion of this training programme. While answering the feedback received from the trainees, Dr. Saxena mentioned that inter-disciplinary research in a collaborative mode will help to progress further in applications of nanotechnology. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Principal Scientist & Course Coordinator briefed about the conduct of training programme and the various hands-on practical arranged to demonstrate the trainees with reference to preparation, characterization and application of nanomaterials. The training ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. A. Arputharaj, Scientist & Course Coordinator.
A total of 21 trainees with 50% women participants, representing 8 states participated in this five day training programme.
