Dr. Panjab Singh, Former Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR visited ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai on 26th March 2017 to visit the nanotechnology facilities, other research infrastructures and to be familiar with the ongoing research activities of the Institute. Dr. P.G. Patil, Director welcomed Dr. Panjab Singh and elaborated the research and developmental activities going on at the Institute. Dr. Patil explained about the Institute’s effort in technology transfer through commercialization and incubation activities and other entrepreneurship development programmes. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Senior Scientist explained the CIRCOT’s expertise in nanofinishing of cotton textiles and nanocellulose production technology from cotton wastes and other agro-biomass. Dr. Virendra Prasad, Senior Scientist emphasized about the technology being developed at the Institute to prepare security / currency grade paper using a blend of cellulosic raw materials. Dr. Panjab Singh visited the nanocellulose pilot plant, nanocellulose product exhibition room and the visitors’ room and appreciated the work done by the Institute. Also, he suggested to work more on the use of nanocellulose for diversified agricultural applications.
