For the cotton growers of Karmala Taluka of Solapur Region, an Awareness programme on selection of improved cotton hybrids and cultivation method for them was jointly organised by ICAR-CIRCOT and Dhansmruti Group of Industries at Vijay Nagar-Zare Fata (Karmala) on 18th June 2017. The programme was attended by over 200 farmers from adjoining area. On this occasion Sh. Sanjay Pawar, Tehsildar, Karmala; Sh. Tate-Deshmukh of Dhansmruti Group of Industries; Sh. P.S. Patil, Cotton Expert; Dr. S.V. Ghadge & Dr. P.S. Deshmukh, Senior Scientists of ICAR-CIRCOT; Dr. Telang, Cotton Entomologist from CRS, Nanded and large participants from Seed, Fertilizer, Soil Testing and Services Sectors were present. Dr. Ghadge highlighted the importance of quality of cotton in value chain, by-products of cotton plant residue and training & testing services offered by ICAR-CIRCOT. Dr. Deshmukh called upon the farmers to grow more cotton with optimum resources and suggested good agricultural practices (GAP), to pick clean cotton to fetch more premium price from purchaser, to utilize the crop residue by latest technologies with formation of clusters by unemployed youth, and to take help of ICAR, CIRCOT for increasing the income. On this occasion events like sale of seeds, soil test, interaction with experts and purchase guarantee agreement by purchaser were happened. ICAR-CIRCOT exhibited its technologies and provided guidance to participating farmers.
