Hydrophobic Finishing of Cotton Materials

Description and Salient Technical features

Using nanomaterial, silicon and organic acid combination multifunctional finishing of cotton fabric is under development. By using this technology, cotton fabric of hydrophobicity. Ultra-violet protection and antimicrobial functionalities will be produced without using fluorocarbons. Hence it will be useful in the reduction of cost of chemicals. Therefore, it is an environment friendly multi-functional finishing of cotton materials. This technology is under development and the project has recently been started.

Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Reactor for Textile Processing

Description and Salient Technical features

The plasma reactor works in the presence of high voltage (1¬15 kV) and high frequency (10-40 kHz). This technology is suitable for value addition of cotton and other textile fibres and fabric. Plasma processing of textile is carried out in dry stage, whereas conventional textile processing is carried out in wet stage. This technology will save water and reduce the effluent load. Therefore, it is an environment friendly water saving technology. This technology is under development and the project has recently been started
