In consonance with the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister, ICAR has geared up its countrywide network to launch “Swachh Bharat Mission” from 25th September 2014. The mission is being launched on the concept of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision, “Sanitation is more important than independence.” In this context, ICAR-CIRCOT has taken up various activities like intensive cleanliness campaign covering the Institute premises and activities to spread message of cleanliness among the staff members. ICAR-CIRCOT Swachh Bharat Mission campaign started with employees taking ‘Swachhta Shapath’ (cleanliness oath) on 2nd October 2014 during a specially organized function. The employees took pledge to dedicate 100 hours every year towards ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. A committee consisting of ten members drawn from Scientists and Technical and Administrative has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Director, ICAR-CIRCOT to coordinate activities under of Swachh Bharat Mission.
ICAR-CIRCOT Celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada during 16-31 May, 2017
As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachhta Pakhwada was celebrated in the Institute during 16-31 May, 2017. During this period, a major cleanliness drive was made to segregate the unwanted and obsolete equipments, furniture, etc. in the premises. The old and broken furniture item in the premises were collected by forming human chain of the staff members and segregated behind Dr. V. Sundaram building of ICAR-CIRCOT. The broken and repairable items were separated from the unusable items. A committee was formed to fix the reserved price for the items like wooden furniture’s, steel furniture’s and plastic items and disposal of the same. During the period a drive to segregate useful wooden items was made. Approximately 200 kg wooden items made up of good quality wood was segregated for utilizing it appropriately. Apart from this, unutilized glass wares lying at the basement were cleaned and put to use for regular activity in laboratory. The ICAR – CIRCOT staff members helped for segregating and cleaning the glass wares under swatch bharat activity.
On 31st May, 2017 Dr. P.G. Patil, Director administered the Oath to all the staff to maintain cleanliness of their working places and residential premises. After taking Swachhata Oath, a cleaning programme was conducted in office premises. Old pipes and unwanted materials were removed from the back side of the institute and the area was cleaned by the staff members.
Cleaning of Quality Evaluation and Improvement Division
On 1st December, 2016 Q.E.I.D. staff members also undertook the second cleaning programme at QEID Division to remove the waste cotton, plastic and partition boards. In total 14 cleanliness drives, 2 workshops were arranged. Three villages were covered. One print media publication was made and six publications in the flex boards were released under Swachha Pakhwada.
Cleaning of Chemical & Biochemical Processing Division premises
The second cleaning programme was arranged on 1st December, 2016 by Chemical and Bio-chemical Processing Division to further clean the reaming chemicals stored in the basement of Dr. V. Sundaram building and to put proper labels on chemical bottles.
On 30th November, 2016 staff members undertook a cleaning programme at Old Testing house and whole QEID Division to remove the plastics and partition boards. During these months, every alternate days, Kesan Kraft Thermal Fogging Sprayer k-k-Tf86255 Machine was used for producing fog containing insecticide for killing insect and other arthropods in the institute premises under cleaning programme.
Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachhta Pakhwada was celebrated in the Institute during 16-31 October, 2016
As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachhta Pakhwada was celebrated in the Institute during 16-31 October, 2016. A series of events were organized during this period to conduct cleaning drives and to create awareness about cleanliness among the masses.
At the beginning of Swachhta Pakhwada on 17th October, 2016 Dr. P. G. Patil, Director administered oath to all the staff to maintain cleanliness of their working places and residential premises. Then a cleaning programme at the Institute was conducted where all the staff members participated to segregate & clean the garbage / debris / unserviceable items lying in the basement of the Dr. V. Sundaram Building, Chemical and Biochemical Processing Division and backside of Yashwant Rao Chavan building by forming human chains from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm. Broken furniture, pipes, old untraceable records etc. were removed from this place and kept in a heap which were later on disposed off as per the guidelines. At the end of the programme, Director appreciated the efforts put by the staffs to make the institute neat and clean.
