ICAR-CIRCOT’s signature skill development training programme on nanotechnology, thirteenth in the series, was organized during September 24-28, 2018. In line with the Government of India’s Skill Development Initiative, this five day training programme was designed to acquaint participants with the recent advances in nanotechnology, to impart hands-on training on synthesis & characterization of nanomaterials and to demonstrate the application of nanomaterials in textiles, composites, filtration, sensors and agriculture & allied sectors.
Thirteen participants enrolled for this training programme include Professors, Scientists and Research Scholars having diversified educational backgrounds like Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Botany, Paper technology and Chemical Technology. More than 50% of the training time was allotted for hands-on practical. The participants also had the opportunity to visit the Nanocellulose Pilot Plant.
Speaking on the occasion of valedictory function, Dr. P.G. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai highlighted the major research achievements of the Institute in the field of Nanotechnology for the past 14 years and its lead position in organizing the self-sponsored training programmes for the benefits of researchers, academicians, students and industrialists. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Principal Scientist & Course Coordinator congratulated the participants and recommended them to plan for collaborative mode of research to cope-up with the rapid advances in the field of nanotechnology based inventions in varied fields.
