Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited and ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai signed MoU for “Development of Nano-formulations for fertilizer Applications” in the presence of Shri Chhabilendra Roul IAS, Secretary (Fertilizers), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India on 4th September 2019. Shri. Chhabilendra Roul said this collaboration between two elite institutions will lead to increase in crop yield using less quantity of fertilizer, which will revolutionize the agriculture scenario. Nanotechnology is the frontier area of R&D and its application in agriculture will double the farmers income. Dr. P. G. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT and Shri U. V. Dhatrak, CMD, RCF were present during the occasion.
Dr. P. G. Patil highlighted the benefits of using nano-zinc oxide in fertilizer formulation and this technology will be transferred to RCF for commercialization. He further narrated the different nanotechnology R&D activities that are being carried out and also the establishment of nation’s first nanocellulose pilot plant at ICAR-CIRCOT. Shri U. V. Dhatrak expressed that both the organizations will mutually get benefited out of this collaboration and new fertilizer formulations will be brought in the market to improve the crop yield. Nanotechnology scientists Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Dr. A.K. Bharimalla & Dr. A. Arputharaj from ICAR-CIRCOT and Dr. Archana Kale from RCF were also present during the signing of this MoU.
