ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai and M/s. Devdhar Chemicals Private Limited, Pune signed MoU for “Evaluation of ICAR-CIRCOT Nanosulphur as Fertilizer and Pesticide”

The ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s. Devdhar Chemicals Private Limited, Pune (Incubatee) for “Evaluation of ICAR-CIRCOT Nanosulphur as Fertilizer and Pesticide” on 27th October 2021.

Dr. (Smt.) Sujata Saxena, Director (Acting), ICAR-CIRCOT and Project Leader, ICAR-CIRCOT-ABI Centre briefed about different nanotechnology related research & development activities being carried out at ICAR-CIRCOT. She emphasized on the importance and role of Sulphur in crop growth and development. She mentioned that sulphur is the fourth most important nutrient necessary for crop growth and Indian soils are deficient in sulphur. She mentioned that nanosulphur application will improve crop growth, enhance absorption of major plant nutrients, reduce fertilizer losses and result in increased crop yield.

Mr. Amit Devdhar, Managing Director, M/s. Devdhar Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Pune deliberated that they are proud to be collaborating with an esteemed organization like CIRCOT. Taking into account soil health issues it is pertinent to act seriously and create awareness to reduce unscrupulous fertilizer application and this MoU is therefore very important.

The MoU has been signed by Dr. (Smt.) Sujata Saxena, Director (Acting), on behalf of ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai and Mrs. Ritika Devdhar, Joint Managing Director on behalf of M/s. Devdhar Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Pune. This MoU is a Material Transfer Agreement between ICAR-CIRCOT and M/s. Devdhar Chemicals Private Limited where CIRCOT will supply them Nano-Sulphur and M/s. Devdhar Chemicals Private Limited will evaluate its efficiency in different field crops (Onion, Groundnut, Garlic and Sunflower) and analyze its effect on post-harvest quality parameters of different crops.
